Obituary of Carole Leslie Borah
Carole Leslie Borah (nee Costar), 76, passed away in the presence of her family at her home in Salem, Oregon, on July 19, 2022, due to Pancreatic Cancer.
“The only real stumbling block is fear of failure. In cooking, you’ve got to have a what-the-hell attitude.” – Julia Child
Those who knew Carole understood that she lived life under her terms. Addressing cancer was no different. When faced with the disease's aggressive nature, Carole approached it with peace and presence. To the very end, she continued to follow her passion for minimalism, finding comfort in bringing to life her favorite recipes from her Counter Cuisine cookbook, and harvesting from her garden.
"Food is the ingredient that binds us together." – Unknown
Carole leaves behind many who loved her including her brother and sister-in-law (Gary and Janice Costar); daughter and son-in-law, ChyAnn Graven Conley and James Conley; daughter, Shannon Graven; daughter, Susannah Graven; and, four brilliant grandchildren (Kenneth Elder, Kristopher Elder, Rylee Graven, and Nicholas Lenn).
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Marion Polk Food Share in her memory.
