Obituary of Robert Tompkins
Robert Tompkins, affectionately known as “Bobo”, passed away at home on May 31, 2023 at the age of 52 after a brave battle with colon cancer.
He grew up in Dundee Oregon and spent his youth outdoors riding his dirt bike or go-kart around exploring or catching frogs, lizards and crawdads, usually with his little sister in tow. He attended Newberg High School, graduating in 1989. He later moved to the Portland metro area managing apartment property maintenance. He was a skilled handyman. Robert was a loyal and hard worker until his health forced early retirement.
He was a talented drummer and spent the 90’s playing in a band with friends. He also enjoyed fishing, frisbee golf, video games, “tinkering”, and Star Wars. He kept a tight knit group of friends who were more like family to him. He lived his life with a positive attitude, had a kind heart and was liked, or loved, by all who met him. He told the best stories, had the best laugh and gave the best hugs.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Thomas and Cherie, mother Bonnie, sister Michelle (Chris), sister Lindsey (Josh), stepsister Erin (Rene), half-brother Mike, nieces Sierra and Lilly, nephews Henry, Thomas and Maverick, his lifelong friends Mark and Kenny, his companion of many years Gannette, his dog Lola, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
A beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, he was taken from us much too soon and will be forever in our hearts.
A private Celebration of Life will be held on July 30th.
