Obituary of John Edward Etchart
John Edward Etchart, known affectionately as Johnny Rotten, passed away on June 6, 2023, at the age of 57 in Oregon City, Oregon. He was born on September 25, 1965, in Bakersfield, California, to Suzie & Arnold "Skip" Etchart, both of whom preceded him in death.
Johnny was a kind-hearted, adventurous individual. He had a vibrant personality and was beloved by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
Johnny will be greatly missed by his siblings Terri and Beau, sister-in-law Marcie, nieces Alyssa, Megan, Katie, Raimie, Kaia and nephew Bradley. Johnny found great joy in the company of his long time girlfriend, Teri Street and their loyal dog, Lexi.
At the age of 13, the family moved to Brookings Oregon. Johnny attended Brookings High School where he excelled at baseball before graduating in 1984. After high school, Johnny attended Mechanic School in Phoenix, Arizona.
Johnny's career began as a Wildland Firefighter, where he courageously fought wildfires for two years. He then transitioned into a successful career as a machinist at Stanley Black & Decker, Hydraulics Division, in Milwaukie, Oregon, where he dedicated 33 years of his life.
In his free time, Johnny had a wide range of hobbies and interests. He was an accomplished athlete, showcasing his skills in slow-pitch softball and playing at elite levels for over 20 years. Johnny also enjoyed golfing, boating, camping, and, above all, traveling to warm destinations. He cherished his visits to Belize and Mexico, which he frequented numerous times.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Johnny will be held on July 30, 2023, at 12pm at the Oregon City Elks Lodge. This gathering will provide an opportunity for family, friends, and loved ones to come together and share their fondest memories of Johnny.
Johnny will forever be remembered for his kind spirit, infectious personality, and unwavering love for his family and friends. Over the years, he often could be found playing with the kids instead of the adults. Johnny left an indelible mark on the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul find eternal peace.
