Obituary of Stuart Lee Wixsom

Stuart Lee Wixsom, known to many as "Big Stu," passed away on June 19, 2023, at the age of 72, in Portland, Oregon. He was born on June 19, 1951, in Los Angeles, California. 

Stu was a big man with an even bigger personality, and an even bigger heart! He left an indelible mark on everyone he met. His ability to captivate people with his stories was remarkable.  He always loved life and lived it to the fullest. He had a passion for cooking, camping, boating, traveling to new places, telling jokes, listening to classic rock, watching Westerns, and perhaps falsely predicting the weather.

Above all things, Stu was a father...always. He cherished his beloved children, Staci and Justin, and their spouses, Matt and Maile, whom he thought of as his own. He was also a proud grandfather to four beautiful grandchildren, Gavin, Trevin, Sloane, and Reese.

He is further survived by his sister Barbara whom he loved dearly and shared many early morning talks.

Stu was predeceased by his mother, Jean Gaddis, and father, Lee Wixsom, as well as his adored step-father, Michael Gaddis. In addition, his namesake/Uncle Stuart Defabry whom he was very proud to be named after.

There will be a celebration of Stu's life in Southern California around the holidays 2023, at the Malibu Coast. Information and details to follow. It will be there that we both remember and celebrate him and allow him to swim in the Pacific Ocean once again.
